Should You Get Tested For COVID-19?

by Elmer Perry

COVID-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus, is something you've surely heard all about. It's on the minds of most people these days, changing just about everything in your everyday life. There are symptoms of COVID-19 that you should be aware of and pay close attention to. If you think you may have this virus, you should get to the nearest COVID-19 testing facility to be sure. Read on for a few of the signs and symptoms of the illness, as well as tips to keep you healthy.

Symptoms Of COVID-19

You may or may not have these symptoms. Some people have experienced different symptoms, while other ill people haven't had any symptoms at all. People that haven't had symptoms are known as asymptomatic. If you are showing symptoms, these may be a few that you could have:

  • Dry cough. A dry cough could indicate COVID-19. If you have a wet cough, where you are coughing up phlegm, it could simply be a cold or even the flu. With COVID-19, there isn't typically any extra phlegm production.
  • Chest pain or problems breathing. You may experience chest pain or issues with breathing. This may accompany the dry cough, or it could be due to the excessive coughing you've been doing. If you have breathing issues or chest pain, it's best to get this checked out.
  • Fever or chills. You may experience a low-grade fever that persists for a few days, or you may also experience chills, which sometimes accompany fevers. You may also have muscle aches as well.
  • Headache. You may have a dull headache that persists, along with some of the other symptoms above.
  • Sore throat. A sore throat may also accompany the other symptoms listed. Sore throats can be a sign of other illnesses as well such as allergies, a cold, or even the flu.

These are just a few of the symptoms of COVID-19. If you are experiencing these symptoms, or even just a few of these symptoms, you should contact a testing facility to see if you can get tested.

Prevention Tips

To prevent getting COVID-19, there are a number of things you can be doing to stay safe. One of the most important things is to wash your hands, especially after you've been out in public. You should also be staying home more and distancing yourself from others to prevent the spread of this illness, as well as other illnesses. Wearing a mask when out in public can also help keep you and others safe from the virus. Be sure you are also eating a healthy diet, drinking plenty of water, and taking vitamins to keep yourself healthy and to help protect yourself against COVID-19.
